James Curran

James Curran is Director of the Goldsmiths Leverhume Media Research Centre, and Professor of Communications at Goldsmiths, University of London. He has held posts at Penn, Stanford, Stockholm and Oslo Universities and has given numerous lectures and key note addresses at conferences all over the world. As well as a long-term involvement in media theory, political economy and history, James Curran's most recent research has focussed on new communications technology. This latest research features in Media and Democracy, published in March this year, and the upcoming Misunderstanding the Internet. He has authored and edited a number of books for us including Power Without Responsibility, Media and Cultural Theory and Media and Power.

In 2011 James Curran was the first winner of the ICA's C. Edwin Baker Award, a reflection of his contribution to the advancement of scholarship on media, markets and democracy.
