  1. May Author of the Month: Caroline Tagg

    The May Author of the Month is Caroline Tagg, whose Exploring Digital Communication came out earlier this year! Caroline Tagg is lecturer in the Department of English Language and Applied Linguistics, University of Birmingham. Her publications include The Politics of English: Conflict, Competition, Co-existence (edited with Ann Hewings, 2012) and The Discourse of Text Messaging (Continuum, 2012).

    In a new interview, the author shared her reasons for writing Exploring Digital Communication, the future of instruction surrounding digital communication in universities, and more.

  2. April Author of the Month: Kees de Bot

    Kees de Bot, author of the ambitious A History of Applied Linguistics, is April's Author of the Month! Professor de Bot is Chair of Applied Linguistics and head of the department at the University of Groningen, Netherlands. His latest work, A History of Applied Linguistics, adresses the development and definition of Applied Linguistics since 1980. The structure of this book is largely defined by the topics covered in interviews with 40 leading international figures and is supplemented with questionnaires from a further 50 key applied linguists.

    In a new interview, Professor de Bot gives us a detailed look into the writing process, including where the idea for his book came from, his method of choosing which applied linguists to include, and how his definition of Applied Linguistics has evolved over time.
