Routledge Education Author of the Month February 2011: Alan Pritchard

Alan Pritchard is author of the bestselling Ways of Learning now in its second edition and is series co-editor (along with John Woollard) of Psychology for the Classroom – an exciting new series applying psychological theory to classroom practice.

Ways of Learning (2009), has been widely praised and is used as a mainstay introductory text for many courses for initial teacher training. The book came out of an interest in current ideas about learning and a realization that in many initial teacher training courses only cursory attention seemed to be paid to what should be at the core of what our new teachers are introduced to.

The first title in the Psychology for the Classroom series, Psychology for the Classroom: Constructivism and Social Learning (2010) is authored by both Pritchard and Woollard. Other titles in the series are: Psychology for the Classroom: Motivation; Psychology for the Classroom: E-Learning; Psychology for the Classroom: Behaviourism. There are other titles at the planning stage.
